In 2015, 6sqft reported that “Entourage” star, filmmaker and local green renovator had just purchased an impressive five story home in the heart of the Clinton Hill historic district. Nosy neighbors and friendly observers have noted steady progress in the massive renovation effort that has followed at 112 Gates Avenue. Now the New York Post tells us that the home, which the actor adorably bought for his Brown Harris Stevens broker mom, will not only retain its Landmarks-mandated charm but will be positively flush with modern conveniences–starting with $10,200 Toto Neorest 750H high tech toilets courtesy of a sponsorship by the Japanese manufacturer.

The luxury loo, which cleans itself–and its occupants, of course–opens and closes automatically, freshens the air, heats the seat and performs a host of other tricks will be joined by a smart fridge ($4,499, JennAir) with Wi-Fi and a less-gifted $80 Soda Stream.
“It’s a blessing and a curse. ” said Grenier, though he wasn’t referring to the beneficent bidet, “The landmarks rules keeps the aesthetics of the neighborhood established. At the same time, we want to push the envelope and include some modern design philosophies. It’s really about finding that balance.”
Records show that Grenier mere et fils bought the house for $2.085 million–not a bad deal in the frenzied brownstone market, as it’s a five-story, four-unit house, which could make a considerable investment as condos, rental apartments or even an enormous mega-mansion. The house, not far from the house he brought back to life with a green reno in 2007, was an estate sale that had been in the same family for decades with a treasure trove of astoundingly ornate original details, but it was definitely a fixer-upper (see photos) that needed a lot of work. Manhattan architecture firm Archetype was brought on to tackle the project and create the high-tech infrastructure that Ms. Grenier says will increase the home’s resale value.
