A housing lottery launched this week for 35 middle-income apartments at a brand new Bronx building. The residential building is located at 761 East 233rd Street in the neighborhood of Wakefield, just a few blocks from the huge and historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Qualifying New Yorkers earning 120 percent of the area median income, or between $56,572 annually for a one-person household and $154,680 annually for a two-person household, can apply for the units, which include $1,650/month studios, $1,750/month one-bedrooms, and $2,000 two-bedrooms.

Developed by Stagg Group with designs by Badaly Architect, the seven-story building offers tenants recreation space, storage, a gym, and on-site laundry. According to the advertisement, the apartments have air-conditioning, hardwood floors, energy-efficient appliances, and intercoms. There is on-site parking available but at an additional cost.

Located in one of the most northernmost neighborhoods in New York City, Wakefield sits adjacent to the Bronx River and the public park spaces alongside it as part of the 23-mile Bronx River Greenway. It’s also next to Woodlawn Cemetery, a designated National Historic Landmark that stretches more than 400 acres and serves as the final resting place of many notable New Yorkers.

The apartment building is conveniently located less than a block from the 2 and 5 trains at 233rd Street and White Plains Road.

Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable units until October 25, 2021. Complete details on how to apply are available here. Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
