May 2, 2016

Furniture designer Christopher Duffy recently unveiled a new dinning table inspired by the ocean. The conversation piece, which replicates an underwater geological cross section, will add several layers of magic to any dinner party held on it.

Two years ago we showed you Duffy’s Abyss, a low coffee table version of the piece you see here. With the Abyss Dining Table, Duffy repurposed the concept but elevated the design with a metal pedestal.

This new work took Duffy a year to create and features embedded LED lights and a transparent plexiglas surface that together enhance the 3D effect of the geological design. All of the materials used are ethically sourced and each table (only 25 have and will be produced) has been constructed with the help of local artisans. The table measures 75 x 40 x 30 inches and can seat up to eight people.

As mesmerizing as the sea—and functional as well—this dining table will bring an ethereal yet earthly vibe into your home.
