Health and wellness hospitality company Getaway on Thursday announced a new amenity-packed lodging experience just two hours away from New York City. With Getaway Campgrounds, guests can reserve a private campsite complete with a pitched tent, bed linens, and modern bathrooms and amenities to ensure a relaxing and welcoming respite from the hectic city life. The full experience, complete with the tent and modern amenities, will cost you $119 per night. For those who would rather bring their own tent for a traditional camping experience, it’s $79 per night.

The new campsites provide a comfortable stay away from the city and an opportunity to take in upstate New York’s natural beauty. Getaway’s expansion signals that the demand for camping experiences is growing, with their occupancy rate in the first quarter of 2022 being the highest it’s been in the company’s history, according to a press release.

“At Getaway, we’re seeing a cultural shift in travel as more urban dwellers are seeking short, frequent escapes to nature to focus on their mental health and well-being. Our cabins and campsites offer space for people of all walks of life to honor their free time, disconnect from work and technology and reconnect with their loved ones and themselves,” Jon Staff, founder and CEO of Getaway, said.

“The Getaway experience is not just about the destination – we’re turning the industry on its head and encouraging our guests to escape to nature to focus on themselves. We look forward to bringing Getaway to even more people in new cities across the country.”

Getaway is offering customers a special “Labor Week” promotion from September 5 to 9. Guests staying three nights at any of Getaway’s Outposts will receive the fourth night for free. Your stay can be booked here.

New Yorkers have shown an appreciation for curated camping experiences, with sites popping up across the state in the last few years. In New York City, there is Collective Retreats on Governors Island, which opened in New York in 2019 as a luxurious, camp-like experience. The island getaway doesn’t come cheap as the New York Times reported last week, with the most affordable option at the glamping retreat more than $400/night.
