Conceptual artist, director, and photographer Michael Somoroff moved into this Soho loft at 112 Prince Street over 25 years ago. He then spent three years turning the sprawling home into a living art piece unlike anything we’ve ever seen. As the listing describes, the living spaces are all outlined by “spectacular, floor-to-ceiling, sculptural ‘volumes’… all individually assembled and crafted by artisans on-site.” There are also three funky bedrooms, a towering library, and classic loft details, all for the asking price of $5,995,000.

Facing the street is the living room and library. The area is slightly elevated on a custom-built “stage” through which the original cast-iron columns stand. The entire area is lined with floor-to-ceiling casement windows, and there are beamed ceilings overhead. The sunken library features a library ladder that also leads up to a lofted office space.

As the listing explains, the sculptures “flank and create a perimeter around the dining room, providing an outline that separates the kitchen and social area.” It continues, “Ten playful ribbons, which Mr. Somoroff calls ‘stratas,’ create a linear pathway that you can visibly trace with your eyes, and watch them as they connect back to those sculptural volumes. These stratas expand beyond the frame of the loft, in all directions, giving them a geological character.” The kitchen has several different geometric islands, as well as three sinks, two half-fridges, a dishwasher, and a separate oven and range.

At the rear of the loft are the bedrooms. The primary bedroom has exposed brick walls and a huge gridded window, along with a mosaic ceiling, bed platform, and sunken tub surrounded by another mosaic. The en-suite bathroom feels like being in a mirrored funhouse.

There’s another bedroom on the main floor, as well as a lofted sleeping area above it.
