This Labor Day weekend, there will be the usual slew of service changes in addition to some special ones just for the holiday. The 2 train will be skipping Church Avenue in the wee hours of Monday during the J’Ouvert Festival – an odd rerouting, seemingly in the name of obstruction, likely to limit attendance to the celebration, which has attracted controversy following past years’ violence. The Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum stop will be passed during the West Indian Day Parade.

In good news, southbound service at the Cathedral Parkway-110th Street B and C stop – which has been closed for four months for structural repairs – will resume at noon on Sunday and northbound service at 5am on Tuesday. As well, regular A and Rockaway Park Shuttle service will resume on Tuesday following a disruptive summer of flood protection work. Plus, the LaGuardia Link Q70 bus will operate free of charge all weekend.

No 1 trains at 18, 23 and 28 streets in both directions – free shuttle buses provide alternate service. Beginning 5am Tuesday, September 4 through next winter the Manhattan-bound 1 platform at 238 St will close and all South Ferry-bound trains will skip the stop.

No 2 service between 135 St and E 180 St – free shuttle buses, running both local and express, provide alternate service. On Monday, 2 trains skip Church Avenue in both directions. 2, 3 and 4 trains will bypass the Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum stop from noon to 7pm on Monday.

Bronx-bound 5 trains skip 138 St-Grand Concourse on Saturday and Sunday. 5 trains run every 20 minutes between Bowling Green and 149 St. No 5 trains between 149 St-Grand Concourse and E 180 St – free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

Flushing-bound 7 trains skip 33, 40, 46, 52, 69, 82, 90, 103 and 111 Sts in Queens.

Inwood-bound A trains skip 81, 96, 103 and 116 Sts.

168 St-bound C trains skip 81, 96, 103 and 116 Sts.

E trains run via the F in both directions between 21 St-Queensbridge and 2 Av. No E service in both directions between Queens Plaza and World Trade Center – free shuttle buses operate between 21 St-Queensbirdge and Court Sq, stopping at Queens Plaza.

D trains skip Union St, 4 Av-9 St, Prospect Av and 25 St in both directions. D service operates between 34 St-Herald Sq and 205 St and between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Stillwell Av, with D trains running express in both directions between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St. Free shuttle buses operate between W 4 St and Grand St, stopping at B’way-Lafayette St.

No M trains between Myrtle Av (Broadway) and Essex St – buses run between Hewes St and Essex St stopping at Marcy Av.

Coney Island-bound N trains skip 30 Av and 36 Av. Astoria-bound N trains run via the R from 36 St to Canal St, stopping at 25 St, Prospect Av, 4 Av-9 St, Union St, DeKalb Av, Jay St-MetroTech, Court, Whitehall, Rector, Cortlandt Sts and City Hall. Coney Island-bound N trains run via the D from 36 St to Stillwell Av – no Coney Island-bound service along the N line in Brooklyn from 45 St to Stillwell Av.

96 St-bound Q trains run via the R from DeKalb Av to Canal St stopping at Jay St-MetroTech, Court, Whitehall, Rector, Cortlandt Sts and City Hall.

J trains run between Jamaica Center and Hewes St, with no service to Essex St or Marcy Av – free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

Court Sq-bound G trains skip Bedford-Nostrand Avs.

Per the whims of the MTA, there will probably be other problems, and the problems stated above are subject to change and worsen.
