A group of apartments in Midtown owned by late Broadway playwright Neil Simon are on the market, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. The three apartments are in the Ritz Tower, an Emery Roth-designed 42-story building in Midtown East and range in price from $1.5 million to $2.8 million. Simon, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer who was best known for plays like “The Odd Couple,” died at age 91 last August.

However, just a year later, “things changed” for this relative, and he listed the pad for $7.8 million. Despite the super-swanky design and ritzy decor, he’s had a hard time unloading the home, and Mansion Global now reports that he’s chopped the price by 10 percent to $6,995,000.

He then enlisted designer Greg Schriefer to create a contemporary and artistic version of a classic New York residence, and now that the renovations have been completed and that “things changed” for the unknown family member for whom he bought the home, it’s hit the market for $7.8 million.
