Just in case a tiny cabin with an outdoor kitchen, a geodesic dome, or a 1950s trailer aren’t your thing, you can still enjoy an unconventional country getaway at a Woodbridge, NY farmhouse where a suite of colorful upstairs rooms awaits.
Part of a fascinating property 90 miles from New York City known as the Outlier Inn, the farmhouse, available on Airbnb, includes three bedrooms (available by room for $125 per night, or you can rent the entire apartment) and a yoga room. You’ll also find sheep, goats, alpaca, bunnies and other sweater-bearing critters whose furry coats (with no harm done besides a haircut) get spun into winter accessories in an on-site fiber-arts workshop space, a full-service recording studio, a greenhouse with seasonal produce for sale and a pond on the 12-acre property, plus a nearby lake, hiking trails and park.
Farmhouse quarters include a queen, full, and king (two twin) bedroom. High-speed internet is available, along with the basics like a kettle and toaster for coffee and snacks.
There’s access to an outdoor stove and BBQ and the aforementioned menagerie plus chickens, dairy goats, cats and dogs and plenty to do, adding up to what sounds like a memorable summer getaway.
According to the hosts, “Guests are encouraged to explore the 12 acre property, relax by the pond, cuddle the bunnies, sheep, alpaca and goats, and go for a hike on the 6 mile rails-to-trails path across the street.” And the rooms look like the perfect place for a long nap after all that.
The farmhouse and other distractions are located in Sullivan County in the foothills of the Catskill mountains. Group rentals of the entire property are available as well; find out more about the rooms here, and see all the properties on Outlier Farm here.
