Jessica Chastain’s Osborne co-op returns to market with nearly $1M discount

Actress Jessica Chastain’s stunning home in The Osborne is back on the market for nearly $1 million less than the original asking price. Last year, the sprawling four-bedroom apartment at 205 West 57th Street in Midtown West, which once belonged to Leonard Bernstein, was listed for $7,450,000. Nearly a year later, the apartment has been relisted for $6,499,000.

Built in 1883-1885, the Osborne is one of the earliest luxury apartment buildings in New York City. Located on Billionaires’ Row, the building is known for its Gilded Age glamour and details, like the marble and Tiffany glass found throughout the building and residences.

Chastain paid $5.1 million for the home in 2015. The Academy Award winner listed the home last May for $7.45 million before pulling the listing in February. It returns to the market at a 13 percent discount, according to CityRealty.

The building’s historic character becomes evident immediately upon walking into the residence, with a living room framed by mahogany paneling and boasting 14-foot ceilings and a bay window topped by leaded Tiffany glass transoms. Next to the living room is a parlor with built-in bookshelves and a wood-burning fireplace.

Other highlights include a formal dining room with wainscotting and built-in window seating and an eat-in kitchen anchored by a large island. There’s also a rolling ladder to reach an abundance of cabinets and high-end integrated appliances.

The primary suite features a wood-burning fireplace, a wall of mirrored closets, and an en-suite bath with a tranquil copper soaking tub, marble vanity, and a walk-in shower. There are two additional bedrooms and a bath down the hall.

The apartment across the hall is also available, a 1,000-square-foot studio with mahogany-clad walls, a mezzanine library, and jade onyx figures. The unit has been on and off the market since 2021 and is currently asking $1,665,000.
