This resort-like estate at 300 Sturges Ridge Road in Fairfield County, Connecticut, is the embodiment of a certain kind of modern dream life. Asking $4,695,000, the home on 2.6 acres leaves nothing to chance, though it’s surrounded by nature. Currently owned by creative director and makeup artist Jay Manuel, known for his role as a judge on “America’s Next Top Model,” the property is the architectural version of a runway for modern living.

The home first hit the market in May for just under $5 million, as the Wall Street Journal reported. In an Instagram post sharing the listing, Manuel said the home had “become part of” his identity.

“Over the years, this private space became a creative refuge, a place to disappear into ideas, host family and friends, reset, and honestly… just breathe,” Manuel wrote. “Every corner holds a memory, and seeing it through images somehow made me realize how much life has happened here.”

This completely private retreat is a showcase of sophisticated design inside and out. From the outside, a vaguely Brutalist blueprint informs California-style design.

Within, walls of glass and high ceilings create a feeling of open space and endless light. Best-in-class technology includes passive solar principles, advanced HVAC, a generator and whole-property connectivity.

A sleek Poliform kitchen uses warm wood and clean tile to wrap a functional gathering space. Integrated appliances save space, and a massive prep island is lit by a custom vent panel. An event-sized dining room is adjacent to the kitchen.

The home’s primary suite is a sanctuary unto itself, opening onto a balcony overlooking the grounds. Serving the bedroom is a massive primary bath with a free-standing soaking tub and a built-in TV.

A dazzling mosaic-tiled wine cellar and a window-wrapped rec room add to the resort vibe. A large skylit gym is ready for wellness and inspiration.

On the grounds, a heated saltwater pool and spa are set into manicured landscaping. Surrounding the home are several terraces, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit and a Zen garden. When you’ve had enough relaxation, this indulgent retreat is a short distance from Manhattan.
