The holidays are in full swing, and the week between Christmas and New Year’s is prime time to soak in all the holiday cheer on Fifth Avenue. Behind the iconic window displays of Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman by Central Park are stylish, upscale restaurants, perfect places to recharge before braving the crowds.

Arguably, the most iconic window displays are found at Saks right near the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, and Bergdorf Goodman’s up by Central Park. Unveiled at the start of the season with a celebration featuring the iconic Rockettes, the center six Saks windows “showcase a whimsical array of holiday scenes within picturesque New York City destinations,” including a New York City-themed Advent calendar.

Along 49th and 50th Streets, designers like Tom Ford, Max Mara, Michael Kors, Fendi, Valentino, Aknvas, Prabal Gurung, Brandon Maxwell, Giorgio Armani, and Alexander McQueen are showcased on mannequins posed in various holiday vignettes.

“The curated fashion illustrates how customers celebrate and dress for the holidays in countless ways and aims to inspire their own expression of personal style all season long,” a press release says.

Up at Bergdorf Goodman on 58th, the window displays depict an “opulent” soireé. The women’s store is decked out in whimsical themes, like a Madhatter tea party and a masquerade gala. Across the street at the men’s store, find a frozen fête and a game night.

“The beloved holiday windows are brought to life by a team of 100 artisans who work meticulously over the course of nine months to create hand-crafted cinematic portraits that celebrate the art of the Soirée,” Linda Fargo, SVP, Fashion Office & Store Presentation, Bergdorf Goodman, said.

“Our windows are a love letter to the creative process itself, infusing various artistic mediums from paper sculpture, soft sculpture, mosaic and more. This year’s theme is especially joyful, an invitation to celebrate together.”

Inside, a winter wonderland awaits as luxurious jewelry, purses, and clothes are displayed in a whimsical white-out with woodland birds “fly” above and snow-covered trees line the halls — a sight to behold.

When you need to take a break from the delightful decor and holiday shopping, head to the store’s stunning restaurants to treat yourself to a glass of champagne and a well-deserved snack.

Fine China and Italian cuisine blend at this chic eatery on the beauty level. Tracing its origins back to 1735, Ginori is an Italian porcelain factory and brand whose iconic, colorful plates have become synonymous with elegance and luxury. Dine off these works of art at Cafe Ginori, where the menu offers elevated Italian fare and cocktails.

Two floors of Parisian fare are tucked away in a department store on L’Avenue. Designed by French architect Philippe Starck, the space features a main Art Deco dining room as well as Le Chalet, “a bar and lounge offering cozy, après-ski style interiors.”

There’s also a terrace with NYC views. Food offerings include upscale French delicacies as well as American classics. Sip on champagne, wine, and cocktails, too.
