Wrapped in pink and surrounded by greenery, Fort Greene condo 144 Vanderbilt launches sales

Sales have officially launched at Fort Greene's 144 Vanderbilt, a new luxury condo offering an unconventional take on Brooklyn living with apartments designed as "private sanctuaries." Developed by Tankhouse and designed by SO-IL, the building on the corner of Myrtle and Vanderbilt Avenues is wrapped in pink precast concrete with a unique stacked design of varying heights and setbacks. All 26 condos at 144 Vanderbilt, including a selection of penthouses and townhomes, have private outdoor space and residents can enjoy roughly 11,000 square feet of high-end amenities. The two- to four-bedroom residences will start at $1.95 million.

Developed by Tankhouse and designed by SO-IL, the 14-story building contains 27 luxury residences and creative outdoor space, including open-air terraces that act like front porches and weather-protected loggias. Pricing for the one- to four-bedroom residences starts at $1,040,000.

New Downtown Brooklyn condo tower 9 Chapel has terraces that act like front porches

New renderings were released this week of 9 Chapel Street, a unique luxury condo tower under construction in Downtown Brooklyn. Developed by design-driven firm Tankhouse and designed by SO-IL, the 14-story building makes outdoor space a central feature, with open-air terraces that act as front porches, a mix of covered and uncovered private outdoor space, and weather-protected loggias. The goal of the design is to create a feeling that is "more house than high rise," as a press release describes.

The Storefront for Art and Architecture Gets Shrink Wrapped by SO-IL

We get frustrated every time we try to use Saran Wrap on the leftover half of a lemon, so we can't imagine shrink-wrapping the entire ground floor of a building. But that's exactly what design firm SO-IL did at the Storefront for Art and Architecture. The installation is part of Storefront's latest exhibit BLUEPRINT, which showcases 50 blueprints from various disciplines dating from 1961 to 2013. The show was also curated by SO-IL. By wrapping the exterior of the space, the gallery is "totally open, yet perpetually closed and fixed... wrapped in time and in space."
