Gracie Abrams has purchased another unit at Greenwich Village’s 1 Fifth Avenue co-op, a year after buying a $5.5 million penthouse in the building, with plans to combine the two. The pop star paid $4.5 million for the 18th-floor penthouse, which was once two separate units and now includes one bedroom, two bathrooms, and two terraces. If combined with the other unit, Abrams’ residence in the building could span five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and five terraces, according to The Real Deal.

Abrams’ newest adobe first hit the market last spring, asking just below $6 million. The price was later cut to just under $5 million before Abrams signed the contract to buy it in December.
The residence last traded in 2022 when the late developer Joseph Cotter, known for projects in upstate New York and in city suburbs, bought it for $5.4 million.

Last March, Abrams purchased penthouse 18GK, a three-bedroom, three-bathroom unit at 1 Fifth Avenue, for $5.5 million. Located in the building’s iconic tower, the roughly 2,000-square-foot apartment features a living room with large picture windows, southern and eastern exposures, and direct access to two terraces, according to Sotheby’s.
Martine Capdevielle and Brigitte Goldenberg of Sotheby’s International Realty’s East Side Manhattan brokerage had the listing.
Abrams isn’t the first high-profile resident to purchase multiple units in the building. In 2018, actress Jessica Lange bought the co-op directly above her existing apartment for $3.3 million. Other past and present celebrity occupants include Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, filmmaker Tim Burton, and his former wife, actress Helena Bonham Carter.

Designed in 1927 by architect Harvey Wiley Corbett in collaboration with Sugarman & Berger, the landmarked 27-story pre-war tower’s distinct Art Deco facade is characterized by chamfered corners with angled windows, adding unrivaled light, air, views, and grandeur to the apartments, according to CityRealty.
The 220-unit building was originally constructed as a hotel for wealthy artists before being converted into a co-op in 1976, as reported by The Real Deal. Amenities include a 24-hour doorman and concierge, a bike room, a laundry room, and a live-in superintendent.
The property offers a prime location in one of lower Manhattan’s most desirable neighborhoods, close to Washington Square Park and an unparalleled selection of dining, shopping, and entertainment options.
