The Hamptons mansion where ‘Seinfeld’ coined ‘shrinkage’ hits the market for $8.75M

A (pricey) piece of pop culture memorabilia is up for grabs, reports the NY Post. The Hamptons mansion featured in Seinfeld’s unforgettable “ugly baby” episode—also known as “The Hamptons!”—has just hit the market for $8.75 million. While the estate situated at 45 Whalers Lane in Amagansett has a lot to tout—including 4,000 square feet of space and sweeping oceanfront views—what really makes the house special is the fact it is where the term “shrinkage” was introduced into modern day vernacular.

If you don’t remember the episode, this clip should refresh your memory:

Per the listing, the mansion boasts four bedrooms and four bathrooms and is “nestled atop the dunes with ocean views from practically every room.” A recent renovation has also completely transformed in the interior from cozy-eclectic to an open-plan home that’s downright sleek and chic.

Other highlights include a chef’s kitchen with an eight-burner Wolff stove, double Miele dishwashers and an oversized subzero refrigerator. There are also multiple entertaining areas, two fireplaces, a two-car attached garage, and of course, that pool.

The Post also notes that the mansion was also previously used as a US Army bunker during World War II, and was featured in the 90s flick “Deep Impact.”
