Just a few blocks from the Bronx Zoo, a new rental building is now accepting applications for 47 affordable units as part of a new housing lottery. Located at 1973 Daly Avenue in West Farms, the 11-story building offers residents a community room, lounge, fitness center, and outdoor recreational space. Qualifying New Yorkers earning 60 percent of the area median income can apply for the apartments, priced at $1,254/month for a studio, $1,343/month for a one-bedroom, and $1,611/month for a two-bedroom.

Developed by Camber Property Group and Westhab and designed by Aufgang Architects, 1973 Daly Avenue, also known as 913 East Tremont Avenue, contains 119 total units. The 100 percent affordable building reserves about 60 percent of the units for formerly homeless New Yorkers. The property, which topped out in January, also has about 6,500 square feet of commercial space.

Amenities at the rental include a 1,300-square-foot community room, on-site community services from Westhab, a laundry room on every floor, a fitness center, bike storage, and full-time security. Residences boast high-end finishes and applicances.

The building is just a few blocks from the sprawling Bronx Park, home to the renowned Bronx Zoo and New York Botanical Garden. The closest subway line is the 2 and 5 trains at West Farms Square-East Tremont Avenue.

Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable units until November 8, 2021. Fifty percent of the units are set aside for residents of Bronx Community Board 6. Complete details on how to apply are available here. Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
