The charm of a freestanding home in the middle of New York City will never get old. This Italiante home, at 237 77th Street in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bay Ridge, pretty much exudes all the charm and is now asking a cool $2.5 million. The 11-room house has a landscaped front yard that leads to a wrap-around porch. Once inside, a grand entrance leads you to a formal living room with hand-restored crown molding, the original windows, stained glass doors and a side entry back out to the porch. The rest of the house, too, is decked out with historic extravagances like stained glass, pocket doors and a wood-burning fireplace.

The entryway is large enough to serve as a waiting room–there’s plenty of space for furniture and seating. The incredible wood detailing is evident as soon as you enter the home, from the original pocked doors to the carved wood stairway.

The formal living and dining rooms are also dripping in details. Just look at the pier mirror in the living room, not to mention the stained glass and built-in shelving in the dining area.

237 77th Street, bay ridge, library

The wood-paneled library, with its own built-in desk, is made quite cozy with a wood-burning fireplace. Our favorite detail in here, though, is the built-in bar made of hand-sawn oak.

237 77th Street, bay ridge, kitchen

The kitchen has been upgraded with fancy appliances that include a Viking eight-burner stove with double ovens. From here, there’s a side entrance to the garage which makes for easy grocery shopping drop offs.

All seven bedrooms–yes, seven!–are located on the upper two floors. There’s a total of four bathrooms as well. One of them still has the original clawfoot tub.

237 77th Street, bay ridge, backyard

After all that charm, the backyard is a little disappointing. But to have a front and back yard, garage and freestanding home in New York? The package seems almost too good to be true, especially when it looks this pretty.
