Nearly two years after selling her chic Greenwich Village penthouse, Rosie O’Donnell finally has a new NYC home (she spends the majority of her time at her other house in Nyack). According to city records, Rosie dropped $8 million on a triplex penthouse at Midtown East‘s 255 East 49th Street. The uber-modern residence is a sprawling 3,563 square feet and has swanky features like a black granite fireplace in the living room, a huge glass walled television in the master bathroom, a sculptural Guggenheim-inspired staircase, an indoor two-person Swedish sauna, and a giant rooftop terrace with views of the Empire and Chrysler Buildings and the East River.
It’s been two-and-a-half years since Rosie O’Donnell sold her chic Greenwich Village penthouse for $9 million, presumably spending more time at her other home in Nyack. But it looks like she’s ready to move back to NYC, as the Post says that she’s been house hunting on the Upper West Side. O’Donnell reportedly checked out a $5.75 million spread at the historic artist co-op 27 West 67th Street–part of the West 67th Street Artists’ Colony History District. The ultra-mod duplex is currently owned by internationally famed artist Abby Leigh, whose late husband was Tony-winning “Man of La Mancha” composer Mitch Leigh.
After initially listing her Greenwich Village penthouse for $11 million in July 2013, Rosie O’Donnell has finally sold the chic four-bedroom home for the substantially lesser amount of $9 million, according to the Daily News.
O’Donnell bought the duplex apartment at 130 West 12th Street, part of the former St. Vincent’s Hospital complex, for $8.09 million in the summer of 2012. She then redecorated it with a combination of artsy, modern, and elegant furnishings. In addition to benefitting from Rosie’s design sense, the new owner will also get to take advantage of a 435-square-foot private terrace and views of both the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center.
