West Chelsea Condos, cityrealty, Isay Weinfeld, Jardim

For those longing for Hamptons serenity without leaving Manhattan, Isay Weinfeld has designed a condominium for you. Sales officially kicked-off last week for the Brazilian architect’s first New York commission, which has aptly been named Jardim for its leafy oasis in the heart of hard-edged West Chelsea. The homes are divided among two 11-story fraternal buildings that come dressed in a textually rich skin of cast-concrete interrupted by elongated ribbons of glass.

Thirty-six light-filled homes frame the lushly planted, multi-level courtyard designed by Future Green Studio. And like all Manhattan real estate surrounding coveted greenery, the units come at a premium. Asking prices for the three currently available homes stand at $2,475 per square foot, according to CityRealty. The lowest priced abode is a 2,218-square-foot three-bedroom on the fourth floor going for $4.25 million; another three-bedroom on the third floor has an ask of $4.25 million; and a four-bedroom on the seventh floor has an ask of $7.55 million.

Foundation work for Isay Weinfeld‘s Jardim condominium is finally wrapping up and portions of the Chelsea development are now climbing to street level. Rising from the swampy banks of a bygone stream, the mid-block site at 525 West 27th Street is giving way to a set of two 11-story condo buildings encasing an elevated garden oasis. A partnership between Centaur Properties and Greyscale Development Group is responsible for the 95,000 square-foot complex; they purchased the site formerly occupied by the Pink Elephant nightclub in 2014 for $45 million.

The construction boom in Chelsea along the High Line continues unabated with the start of another condo development penned by a highly acclaimed foreign architect. This latest condominium, dubbed “Jardim” (Portuguese for garden), comes from the office of visionary Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld.

Developed by Harlan Berger’s Centaur Properties, Jardim’s site is situated at 525 West 25th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues–just a single starchitect’s lot away from the High Line. Construction at the currently muddy site has commenced, and we got a first-hand look at the progress.
