$19.5M Tribeca townhouse of late designer Thierry Despont sells after three years

The Tribeca townhouse of late French architect Thierry Despont, best known for renovating New York City landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Carlyle Hotel, has finally sold after three years on the market. The five-bedroom townhouse at 182 Franklin Street entered contract with an asking price of 19.5 million, according to CityRealty. Despont, who died in August at the age of 75, listed the property in 2021 for $25 million.

The architect who has worked on New York City icons like the Statue of Liberty, the Carlyle Hotel, the Woolworth Building, and 220 Central Park South is selling his Tribeca home. Thierry Despont, a French-born designer who specializes in high-end designs and renovations for residential buildings and hotels around the world, listed his luxe five-floor townhouse at 182 Franklin Street for $24,999,999. Despont bought the home 25 years ago and converted the 1915-constructed building into a sprawling single-family home.

Jean Nouvel’s condo tower 53W53 reveals lavish wellness amenities

The private club and wellness center at Jean Nouvel's residential tower in Midtown West is a work of art. New images of the lavish full-floor space at 53 West 53, which rises adjacent to the Museum of Modern Art, were released this week, unveiling for the first time the club's elegant gym, squash court, golf simulator, saunas, and 65-foot lap pool that is surrounded by a green wall made up of 3,500 plants.

New renderings and construction photos reveal full design of Jean Nouvel’s 53W53 ‘MoMA tower’

6sqft checked in almost a year ago on starchitect Jean Nouvel's MoMA-adjacent tower, 53W53 at 53 West 53rd Street, when photos from the Billionaires’ Row construction site showed the building getting the first of its intricate diagrid skin. Construction on the 82-story building recently reached the 58th floor, and newly-released renderings and construction photos show the full design of the 1,050-foot-tall tapered tower, which will have interiors by celebrated designer Thierry Despont, from crown to ground level. The new images also show how the Museum of Modern Art will have three new gallery levels within the tower's base on floors 2, 4 and 5.

Jean Nouvel’s MoMA Tower is getting the first of its intricate, diagrid skin

News at starchitect Jean Nouvel's condominium MoMA Tower (officially called 53W53) has been relatively quiet since units hit the market just over a year ago. But CityRealty brings us an update from the Billionaires' Row construction site, where the 1,050-foot-tall, tapered tower is currently getting the first of its intricate, diagrid skin, which the architect once said will resemble blood running the veins with its nighttime lighting.
