Kelly Ripa Revealed as Buyer of $27M UES Townhouse

When it made headlines that Kelly Ripa had sold her posh Soho penthouse at 76 Crosby Street for $20 million ($4.5 million under the asking price), most people assumed the fun-loving, down-to-earth talk show host would swap the apartment for another downtown home. But in a surprising twist of celebrity real estate, the Daily News revealed today that she and her husband Mark Consuelos are the owners of a $27 million Upper East Side townhouse.

The five-story, five-bedroom home at 12 East 76th Street is just east of the park, in the heart of swanky, high-society uptown. It was never publicly listed, but when it sold in April 2013 it was the second most expensive townhouse sale in the city that year. Ripa and Consuelos bought the property from fashion mogul Luca Orlandi and his wife, supermodel Oluchi Onweagba, but hid their identity through an LLC. The façade and interior were completely renovated before their purchase.

Kelly Ripa has officially unloaded her Soho penthouse, according to city records filed today. The five-bedroom beauty at 76 Crosby Street sold for $20 million, $4.5 million less than what she was asking when she first listed it in January last year. Though Ripa came up a little short, it’s worth noting that her and hubby Mark Consuelos paid just $9.5 million for it in 2005. Today’s sale is also the 6th highest ever recorded in Soho, according to CityRealty.

Remember the story of the ugly duckling and how she grew up to be a beautiful swan? Well, imagine that happening and still having to sit on the market for over a year. That’s what happened to Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’s masterfully renovated Soho loft at 76 Crosby Street.

Before we get into why this breathtaking hideaway sat on the market for so long, let’s take a moment to admire this 5BR/4.5BA beauty. As if 6,792 square feet of dark-stained white oak floors and 12-foot ceilings flooded with light isn’t enough, this place also features 2 media rooms, 2 home offices, and a playroom. So there’s plenty of room for work and play for the entire family.
