This week, the French Embassy’s Films on the Green debuts at Central Park and Yotel’s Midtown Rooftop Cinema kick off your movie-under-the stars summer. The Sing For Hope Pianos are back, beckoning your musical stylings across the five boroughs. Design mavens can network on the Intrepid for the annual IDLNY Gala, and Perkins + Will open their doors for drinks and discussion with the Architectural League. The Other Fair brings a host of international artists to Greenpoint, while Lars Jan’s short film comes to Times Square for the month. Finally, do not miss the debut of British artist Lucy Sparrow’s all-felt bodega, which takes over the Biergarten at the Standard High Line for three weeks!

Take the month to check out my curatorial debut with Times Square Arts every night on the ad screens, head to City Hall Park to enjoy a new sculpture series, and definitely be sure to frolic in the balloon room by Martin Creed at the Park Avenue Armory. Art Nerd New York’s Top Event Picks for the Week, 6/4-6/10

Kim Gordon, the unstoppable, inspirational Jane-of-all-trades leads the week with the opening of her latest fine art exhibition—as if playing in two bands and penning a best-selling memoir were not enough already. Novice art collectors can have their day at Cotton Candy for their very popular annual Tiny Trifecta, where all works by renowned artists are just $100. And being thrifty is in the air with the Museum Mile Festival which is offering free admission to nine museums along 5th Avenue. But if art isn't your thing, there's still lots more to do: get cultured with a French flick in Washington Square Park, or schooled at Lost Lectures as it returns to a secret, former ship-building warehouse somewhere in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
