Yayoi Kusama’s insanely popular infinity rooms return to New York this fall

When Yayoi Kusama last took over David Zwirner Gallery with one of her Infinity Mirror Room installations in 2017, over 75,000 people flocked to experience the awe-inspiring (and very selfie-friendly) exhibition. At times during its 80-day run, the show was so popular that visits were limited to 60 seconds and wait times reached six hours. If you weren't one of the lucky ones then, you'll get another chance this fall when a new exhibition dedicated to the artist's work opens at David Zwirner on November 9, as Time Out reported.

Art Nerd New York’s top event picks for the week – 9/22-9/28

In a city where hundreds of interesting happenings occur each week, it can be hard to pick and choose your way to a fulfilling life. Art Nerd‘s philosophy is a combination of observation, participation, education and of course a party to create the ultimate well-rounded week. Jump ahead for Art Nerd founder Lori Zimmer’s top picks for 6sqft readers! Art openings aren’t for everyone; some thrive on jam-packing themselves into hot galleries, clamoring for two inches of cheap wine and a glimpse of a corner of a painting, while others have gotten over the “I saw it first” mentality and prefer to leisurely enjoy show offerings at their own pace, long after the crowds have seceded. That said, put your best shoes on and enjoy a night (or day) out at these excellent exhibits this September. My list this week includes losing yourself in the trippy, yellow-hued world of Os Gemeos at Lehmann Maupin, and taking in the larger than life works of graffiti artist John Matos, a prolific contributor to the New York graffiti scene since the late 70s. And if you're looking to dance this weekend, school is also back in session with a wild high school-themed party at MoMA PS1!

Yayoi Kusama’s Polka Dot-Covered ‘Obliteration Room’ Shows for the First Time in the U.S.

This picture may look familiar to you, as the installation at the David Zwirner Gallery has been making the rounds on Instagram. The work of artist Yayoi Kasuma, "The Obliteration Room" is part of the larger exhibit "Give Me Love." It's the first time the wildly popular polka dot-covered room has been shown in the U.S., and New Yorkers are excited to be part of the interactive experience. The backdrop for "The Obliteration Room" is an all-white, familiar domestic setting located within a prefabricated suburban home. As guests enter the room they're handed stickers, round dots in various sizes and bright colors, and asked to place them anywhere they'd like.

Live in the Penthouse of Starchitect Jean Nouvel’s 100 Eleventh Avenue for $45K/Month

Starchitect Jean Nouvel’s 100 Eleventh Avenue may have received mixed reviews—which is made even more evident when you look at its rocky listing history—but that doesn’t change the fact that this pad is a clear showstopper. Not only does the stunning full-floor penthouse offer 360 degrees of stellar views through 150 linear feet of floor-to-ceiling windows; have a sprawling layout and two terraces; and reside on one of New York’s most recognizable blocks, surrounded by buildings designed by Pritzker Prize winners like Frank Gehry and Shigeru Ban; but this unit also has recently renovated interiors courtesy of Jennifer Post, one of Architectural Digest’s top 100 designers. Bottom line, if you’re a big name-dropper, this $45,000/month rental has your name written all over it.
