Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei has put her longtime home in the Emery Roth-designed Bing & Bing co-op at 59 West 12th Street up for sale. The actress carved out the custom home for herself by combining her original unit with a neighbor’s for 2,265 square feet of living space, then bestowed it with a top-to-toe designer-assisted renovation (h/t Curbed). The high-floor Greenwich Village home has two terraces and open downtown Manhattan views.
Tomei formerly inhabited an equally gorgeous East Village townhouse, last seen on the market for $6.85 million in 2017. And her parents’ West 13th Street townhouse was in the news last year when neighbor Sean Lennon‘s tree invaded and allegedly damaged the property.
Recently featured in Elle Decor, the sprawling space is centered around an expansive south-facing great room with a wood burning fireplace and beamed ceilings. All rooms have been wired for sound.
A gallery/library and home office area separates the living area from the master suite.
A bright and colorful eat-in kitchen has all the necessary appliances and plenty of storage.
The master suite has another wood-burning fireplace and a seriously indulgent 200-square-foot dressing room. Off the bedroom, a terrace offers daily sunset views. Across the apartment, a second bedroom doesn’t skimp on the en-suite bath or the stunning views. The Emory Roth & Sons designed pre-war condominium building has been known to attract boldfaced names over the years, including Cameron Diaz, Jimi Hendrix, Isaac Mizrahi, and Bebe Neuwirth.
