MAP: Find the colorful fall foliage of Central Park’s 20,000 trees

Central Park’s most dazzling and vibrant season has arrived. With over 20,000 trees and 150 species of trees spread across 843-acres, Central Park in autumn remains a cannot-miss spectacle for New Yorkers. Thankfully, the Central Park Conservancy created a fall foliage map making it easy to find the leaves with the brightest shades of gold, yellow, red and orange this season.

The Conservancy’s map breaks the foliage down by area, type of tree and the color of leaves expected to shine. In the park’s North Woods, look out for Black Cherry, Pin Oak, Red Oak, Scarlet Oak, Red Maple and American Elm trees. The Conservatory Garden boasts Crabapple, Stewartia and Star Magnolia trees. The North Meadow features Hickory, Sugar Maple and Flowering Dogwood trees.

Plus, the Conservancy created a user-friendly “tree guide” to help visitors locate their favorite sapling. Users can filter the guide by type, attribute and location. Tree Discovery Walks are also offered that takes park-goers along six routes passing trees marked with identification plaques.
