Tom Postilio, Mickey Conlon, core, core group, brokers nyc, real estate brokers, hgtv real estate

No need to rub your eyes, if Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon look familiar, it’s probably because you’ve spent a season watching them run around Manhattan showing multi-million dollar properties to some of the world’s richest. The pair, who also share a Broadway past, were one of the first to bring real estate reality television to the masses with HGTV’s hugely popular Selling New York. But there’s more to Tom and Mickey than their stage sheen.

To date, the “Dream Team” has brought in over a $1.5 billion dollars in sales at CORE, securing the firm’s spot as the #1 brokerage in town, and earning themselves CORE’s 2013 Top Producer Award while at it. Charismatic and capable, it comes as no surprise that Tom and Mickey are a prime pick amongst developers and celebs looking for record-breaking results (David Sanborn, Lady Gaga, Jim Carey and Joan Collins are just a few of the names that make up their roster). We recently chatted with the powerhouse pair who gave us the scoop on everything from their first sales, to bringing what they learned on Broadway to the real estate business, to one of their most memorable closings involving a 7-foot fiberglass replica of the Statue of Liberty!

Entertainment jack-of-all-trades Saul Rubinek has unloaded his Nolita loft at 285 Lafayette Street for $4,875,000, according to city records. The Canadian actor, producer, director, and playwright originally listed the three-bedroom unit in May as a $22,000/month rental. The price gradually dropped to $15,000/month by July, but now he’s completely parted ways with the home, selling it for much higher than the $2.95 million he paid in 2011.

Actress Julia Stiles may not make the news much these days, but she found her way into Variety over the weekend with the sale of her Gramercy duplex apartment. The three-bedroom pad, which sits in a six-unit brownstone building at 310 East 15th Street directly across from historic Stuyvesant Square, was placed on the market last summer for $3.5 million. While the apartment saw a price chop just a few months after being listed, Stiles still managed to finagle $2.7 million from a less than famous buyer—a pretty nice profit considering she originally paid $1.995 million for the unit 10 years ago.

27 Howard Street, Jonah Hill, Soho cast iron buildings

Looks like celebrities like flipping, too. Just two years after Jonah Hill bought his Soho loft at 27 Howard Street for $2.65 million, he’s put it back on the market for over a million dollars more. Now listed at $3,795,00, this full-floor, 2,000-square-foot pad was originally a two-bedroom when Hill moved in, but it’s currently configured as a massive one-bedroom space. And with an estimated net worth of $30 million, why not spread out and live the good life?

15 Central Park West, Sara Blakely, Spanx, NYC celebrity real estate

That’s right, $18 million. According to city records, Spanx founder and self-made billionaire Sara Blakely sold her apartment at 15 Central Park West for $30 million, almost triple the $12.11 million she paid for it in 2008.

The sale comes on the heels of CityRealty releasing its CityRealty 100 list of most expensive homes in the city, on which 15 Central Park West is listed first. The prestigious, Robert A.M. Stern-designed building has an average price per square foot of $6,288 (the Time Warner Center, which came in second has an average of $4,689) and it also holds the priciest condo sale through the second quarter of 2014 at $48 million.

It’s a common saying that money can’t buy good taste, but Peter Brant proves that old adage doesn’t apply to billionaires. According to city records, the American industrialist and businessman just closed on a former Con-Ed substation located at 421 East 6th Street for $27 million—$2 million above asking.

Constructed in 1920 to serve the city’s power needs, the building was altered in the 60s and again in the 80s to accommodate a live-work space for a famed sculptor Walter de Maria. Even with more than a century of history behind it, today the structure still keeps many of its original relics and the overall gritty aesthetic of its industrial past. As a lover of art himself, we’re curious to know how Brant will go about redesigning the space—if he does. Brant, who also happens to be married to supermodel Stephanie Seymour, is the publisher of both Interview and Art in America magazines and has been previously been called a “Donald Trump with taste” by the New York Times.

112 Greene Street, Adam Levine, Behati Prinsloo

Despite apparent attempts to remain discreet, word has gotten out that Adam Levine and his Victoria’s Secret model wife Behati Prinsloo may be purchasing a new Manhattan home, according to the NY Daily News. This development comes soon after the couple returned from their Mexico honeymoon and just months after they were seen scoping out Soho for a new nest egg. Well, the house hunt appears to have gone well, because they may have just landed a gorgeous loft in the boutique historical cast iron building at 112 Greene Street.

It looks like Olympic figure skater Sasha Cohen will be boxing up all her medals for a move to the West Village. According to city records, Cohen is leaving her Times Square pad for a corner one-bedroom apartment at 136 Waverly Place. Cohen dropped $1.595 million for the pre-war digs, which are much more quaint and simple that what we’d expect for the skating star who had a Project Runway episode dedicated to designing a skating dress just for her.

Mr. and Mrs. Kardashian… Er, we mean Kim and Kanye West may be moving their brood to the East Side of Manhattan. Kim, along with Mamma Jenner and her little sis Kendall, were recently spotted looking at the penthouse at the eco-friendly Delos at 66 East 11th Street—a sprawling 7,693-square-foot unit that features a handcrafted “floating” metal staircase and a beautiful glass atrium ceiling.

The unit is currently going for $50 million, not a steal by any means, but surely just a drop in the bucket for the power couple whose combined net worth approaches $200 million. Other famous residents of the Delos include Leonardo DiCaprio, who owns a $10 million two-bedroom unit.
