As December dawns, the holiday gift markets roll in, and it’s harder than ever to turn around in NYC without encountering a pop-up shop or makeshift mall offering everything anyone could ever want–whether they know it yet or not–for the body, mind, soul and home. We’ve assembled a list of smaller, cooler pop-ups and holiday markets that mix music, food and fun freebies like haircuts, goodie bags and beer with this year’s selection of clever, crafty gifts.

The Naftali Group’s 12-story condominium dubbed The Seymour has topped out just six months after breaking ground. Though we’ve yet to see the traditional topping-out tree, a flag can be seen pitched atop the concrete frame of the building’s bulkhead–a sure sign of the completion.
Sales have been just as speedy with more than half of the building’s 67 units in contract. According to CityRealty, there are currently nine units available on the market with an average price of $1,882 per square foot, ranging from $1.3 million for a one-bedroom unit to $3.95 million for a three-bedroom home on the 10th floor.
The renovation of this beautiful West Side property was made possible by the design team from Chelsea‘s very own respected architecture firm, Archi-Tectonics. This project included the addition of a garden extension, two floors, and a rooftop terrace. The client, who is a fashion designer, wanted the home to reflect a “textured” or layered approach in its design, and the cool, narrative style does just that.
The contemporary renovation was completed in 2011, when the original 3,400-square-foot brownstone–also a New York City landmark–was extended by 550 feet with the addition of the new garden space to create a residence that was light and airy.
Perhaps the low-key lifestyle of an historic townhouse in Vinegar Hill didn’t agree with Twilight Star Robert Pattinson. Because he’s now reportedly been spotted checking out a much more high-profile pad in West Chelsea, according to the Post. In fact, the $20 million penthouse in the famous Sky Garage building is so impressive that it has its own private drive-in elevator. Yup, that’s right, the Selldorf Architects-designed tower at 200 Eleventh Avenue is considered “paparazzi proof,” since celeb residents including Nicole Kidman can drive right into their personal car elevators that take them directly to their contemporary apartments.
Pattison toured the $20 million, three-bedroom, 3,598-square-foot penthouse of this unprecedented building, which has other jaw-dropping features like a glass floor that opens up with the press of a button to reveal a stairway that leads to the bedroom wing below.
Of the condos planned along the High Line Park, one of the most—if not the most—anticipated addition comes via Zaha Hadid. One of our intrepid reporters recently stopped by the construction site located at 520 West 28th Street to see how works are coming along, and it looks like the site is near-ready for its starchitect treatment. Excavation is almost finished and much of the concrete slab foundation has been put in place. When fully constructed, Zaha’s undulating residential tower will rise 11 stories with 40 luxury condos within; the cheapest will be a two-bedroom at $4.6 million, and the most expensive will be a five-bedroom penthouse priced at $35 million. You probably recognize actor and director Tate Donovan from The O.C., 24: Live Another Day, and the short-lived Hostages (and as the former fiancé of both Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock). And now you might be running into him in Chelsea. According to city records published today, Donovan purchased a $1,775,000 condo at 428 West 20th Street. The converted rowhouse has seven units, and the actor’s 1,100-square-foot unit, number 4, was last sold in 2009 for $1,205,417.

I-Beam Design was called to do the job, and together with LEGO artist Sean Kenney they created an amazing pixelated new stair railing and wall using 20,000 LEGO bricks.

The distinctive $5.995 million loft at 213 23rd Street, formerly the men’s locker room of the first YMCA in the U.S., was purchased by businesswoman Cindy Gallop in 2006 for $1.5 million. With an additional million, and the help of Stefan Boublil of interior design firm The Apartment, she gave the space a dramatic makeover, stating she wanted to feel like she was in a Shanghai nightclub.
